We
went to buy a cauliflower.
There
were none.
The
domestic harvest was devastated by flooding back in June; the import option,
destroyed by heat waves across continental Europe in June and July.
In
the not-too-distant future, we shall eat not only what is local and seasonal,
but what survives.
We
shall eat like the rest of the world.
It
will not be good news for our taste-buds.
It
might just be good for our souls.
