You were made to delight in the work
of others.
Engineering. Architecture. The
composition, and performance, of music. The kid who flips the beef patty in
your Big Mac, if a Big Mac is your thing.
You have head it said, find something
you love, and you will never work again. This is a lie: in part, because if you
find something you love, you will be more likely to work longer and harder,
and, usually, for less money than you could earn doing something you loved
less; and in larger part because it buys into the destructive false narrative
that work is a necessary evil and not how we participate in and contribute to
the interconnected interdependence of all things.
But I say to you, learn how to take
delight in the work of others, and you will never see work as a necessary evil
again.
