“Good news!” said the angel, “You shall have a son.”
“How can that be?” replied Zechariah, with bitterness. “My wife is years beyond the menopause.”
“Good news!” said the angel, “You shall have a son.”
“How can that be?” responded Mary, with wonder. “I have never had sex, not with anyone, not even my fiancé.”
Spirit of Jesus,
come to those whose hope in you
has been snuffed-out
by the disappointments of past experience;
trim the wick of their lives,
and re-ignite the flame of faith;
that they may shine again in the darkness.
Spirit of Jesus,
come to those whose hope in you
burns brightly
as a freshly-lit candle;
shelter them from the chill drafts of doubt,
that they may burn through the dark night
and so bring light and life to others.
Amen

Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteI know it is a bit late, but merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Danish girl, who has been reading your blog for a couple of month (hehe, it sounds a bit gloomy when one in a way sneaks around like that - hopefully you don't see it like this!) Anyways, I think it's time to write a few words now.
I enjoy reading your blog, although I don't know you. It contains so much beauty and wisdom. It might sound wierd, but you inspires me and gives me a lot. I just want to say thank you.
I wish the best for you and your family in the new year!
Thank you for dropping by - visitors are always welcome!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, when I tried to add a post this evening, after a break of several days, the new blogger isn't allowing me to enter text...hopefully that will get resolved, and I'll be able to continue writing!
By the way, Anne, how did you come across my blog? Do you know any of my Danish friends?
ReplyDeleteIt is so frustrating, when the technology fails...!
ReplyDeleteWell, I haven't talked about you with him, but your blog is linked at the blog of my student pastor Henrik Holmgaard, so I assume that you know him :)
