Topping the whole weekend off was England's thrilling win over Australia by two runs in the second Ashes test. It really was the most entertaining of matches, from start to finish.
Australia are so far ahead of everyone else right now that England would have needed to win the series 5-0 to knock them off top spot in the test rankings. That was never going to happen, but neither was Glenn McGrath's prediction of a 5-0 whitewash to Australia. Weather-permitting, a 3-2 result, for either side, would seem quite possible. (Speaking of Glenn, we all wish him a full and slow recovery.) It looks set to be a great summer...
what a brilliant game!
ReplyDeleteI think both teams deserved to win at points but at the end of the day a 1-1 result makes for a great series

ReplyDeleteI have to admit my sympathy for Mr McGrath is not immense. In fact, the only word I could use for his freak injury was 'justice', after he announced the day before he would be targeting Vaughn's injured left elbow. March on!

ReplyDeleteEdge of the seat stuff. How great have both games been? Obviously it was hollow feeling from an Aussie point of view, but it will certainly set up the final 3 tests in this series.
ReplyDeleteamazing game, the most exciting thing I have ever watched. I do believe it will be a 3-2 series, but, I also believe with Glenn in it very easily could have been 5-0
ReplyDeleteCricket sure is a great game, when I go back to America I intend to popularize it by suggesting, it is another way we can show we are supperior to Mother England :) Ofcourse I will be the obligatory blonde leg spinner.
