The Third Day Of Christmas

John : Apostle : Evangelist

Christmas is for mystics.

In their Gospels, Matthew and Luke focus on the events of Jesus’ coming into the world.  In his Gospel, John focuses on the event of Jesus’ coming into the world.

If the events are mind-blowing enough – angel-soldiers delivering messages from heaven; a post-menopausal woman and a pre-menopausal girl becoming pregnant; a new-born king found lying in a manger-stall, visited by social outcasts and by dignitaries from a distant court – then the event is truly mind-blowing:

the very creative utterance of God has spoken itself into place within the created order...

Christmas is for mystics, who will gaze deeply into what they have no hope of fathoming.
